This One Hair Range

Superdrug are my go to for cruelty-free beauty; all of their own brand items are leaping bunny approved and suitable for vegetarians or vegans. Also they're very cheap! So I was pretty excited to discover the 'This One' range; pretty purple packaging gets me every time. This summer my hair has turned into a dry, dull and frizzy mess, so I was counting on these to rescue it.

This One Shine Mist
Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

I really wanted this one to work; my hair has been completely limp and lacklustre for a while now and I was hoping for a quick fix. Alas, this is not the one. I started by spraying it on just one side of my hair so I could judge the difference properly. It gives a nice subtle shimmer and does make my dip dyed hair stand out more, but not as much as I was hoping. I don't think it's really worth it for the extra product in my hair. On the plus side, it was cheap (I got it half price for £1.73) and worth a try to find out.

This One Volumising Dry Shampoo
Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

I've been looking for a really good, cruelty-free dry shampoo for a long time. I'm still yet to find one. This one is ok. It smells nice, which is a good thing as it does take quite a lot of the product to get rid of greasy roots. It does volumise a bit too and works to give your hair a bit of body. But, you are left with a stiff sort of feeling that a lot of volumising sprays result in.

On a positive note, the spray is pretty much clear so you don't end up with white powder all over your hair like some dry shampoos can do (handy if you're a brunette). And it's also easy to brush out, which gets rid of that stiff feeling, and it washed out just fine. I also got this for half price at £1.48. I'll use it up and then find a different one.

This One Replenishing Treatment
Suitable for vegetarians.

This one is lovely. Previously I've tried making my own homemade hair masks with disastrous results, so I gave in and bought this tub. It smells yummy, feels nourishing and has a generous amount of product. The directions are to wash and dry your hair, then apply and leave it in for 5-10 minutes. I've been leaving it in for at least 30 minutes once a week, wrapped up underneath a shower cap and it's no trouble to rinse out afterwards. I've been using it for a month now and although it's no miracle worker, my hair is definitely in better condition with less frizz, leaving it softer, smoother and easier to style.

Barry M Nail Polish

I love love love Barry M, especially their nail polish! Here's my look for the weekend; two coats of my favourite colour Bright Purple.

The sparkly one on my ring fingers is Amethyst Glitter. I've found with so many glitter polishes that you either get no glitter out at all, or it just comes out in big lumps. But not with this one! In these pictures I've only got one coat of Amethyst Glitter on and it looks like a rainbow exploded on my nails :)
I always use the clear Basecoat, Topcoat  & Nail Hardener to seal them, and find with that they don't chip for about 4-5 days.

And best of all, they're cruelty-free and suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Wet Brush Wonder!

A Detangling Dream

When it comes to my hair, I am incredibly lazy. It's super long, thick and tangles so easily: I wear it up in a bun most of the time just to keep it out of the way. Because it's such a chore, I usually don't brush it between washes (two or three days) and it takes me an hour or more to pull all the knots out with kiddie's detangling spray and a big comb.

These wet brushes had glowing reviews online so I went ahead and bought one, but by the time it arrived I had my doubts. Doesn't brushing wet hair damage it? And it looks just like a normal brush! I thought I had probably wasted my money.

However, after ignoring my hair for two or three days beforehand, I tried it out. And it was an absolute dream! It took two minutes and even though I had plenty of tangles it didn't pull at all. I've never brushed my hair so quickly! Afterwards there were a grand total of five hairs on the brush (yes, I pulled them off and counted) a huge difference to the mountain of hair that usually gets yanked out. For me, that's a good sign that it must be a lot less damaging than brushing my hair when it's dry.

I've been using this brush for a few weeks now and had the same wonderful results every time.

I couldn't be happier with it! Before, I was considering cutting my hair short just to be done with the tangles, but now I'm happy to keep it long as this brush has saved me so much time, pain and effort.

I bought my brush here.
I'd give it a 10/10 :)

A Warm Welcome

Welcome to my blog about cruelty-free beauty. I'm a vegetarian from the U.K and I wanted to make a place for great recommendations about affordable beauty products that are genuinely not tested on animals, without animal ingredients.

Everything I buy I research first to make sure it's animal friendly, so I wanted to share my efforts!
I also really want to encourage anyone who's thinking about switching to cruelty-free by showing you what a wide and wonderful range there is out there.

Happy reading :)
